You’re Daddy’s Lady

So… back in October 15th, 2021 I lost one of the most amazing people I have ever known. My dad was my biggest cheerleader, one of my best friends, and the man who showed me how men should always be in love with their wives. Losing him was a massive blow to me and my family. This was so made so much harder by the fact that I was active duty military at the time and hadn’t been home for years. He had just recently been diagnosed with Lung Cancer but said I should stay at work and instead come out for Christmas when his Chemotherapy would have been complete. Instead, this would never happen.

I went back home to help my grieving mom and family. While I was there, I decided to try and capture my dad’s love for “his lady” so my mom could have a daily reminder. The word’s are lyrics from Kenny Roger’s song “Lady” that my dad used to sing to her often. This was one of the scariest pieces I’ve ever painted because I really wanted to be sure I did my dad justice. My mom was touched by this and it’s hung in her room ever since. <3
